Escort Passport 9500i has revolutionized the radar detector category yet again. The first detector to use GPS to lock out known false alerts. Escort 9500i has tackled this issue with its smart cord. The standard smart cord used by pressing the mute button will allow the owner to mark false alert locations such as grocery stores, pharmacists, automatic door openers, motion sensors etc...
The 9500i has numerous features that will keep most happy. This detector has an auto volume feature which automatically increases the alert volume when ambient noises are in the vehicle (This feature is especially nice for motorcycles as well) are too loud due to music, wind, or the occasional nagging backseat driver. Staying with volume control the 9500i has both audible voice and tone alerts. Audible warning for radar and laser will start with a tone and then be followed by a voice alert of the band. The display indicates the vehicles present speed, and then indicates the signal strength of radar signal and a few seconds later will auto mute. Each of the four radar bands (X, K, Ka, Ku) as well as POP and laser have there own distinct tones for easier identification.

The 9500i speed alert function will display the vehicles speed during the first few seconds of the alert as long as the vehicle is traveling above fifteen mph. Ultra bright alphanumeric displays using 2 hundred eighty LED’s and also provides actual numeric frequency for any radar signal. The displays can be bought in either red or blue. The blue display is higher price although it should be mentioned that there is no performance differences but due to the gases used to make the blue costs considerably more than the red. The detector also has a brightness adjustment feature and backlit buttons with 5 brightness settings starting at full dark to auto. The auto will set the brightness of display according to ambient light in the vehicle and the backlit control buttons make it easier to adjust options during night drives.

Along with the GPS component the detector comes with ability to interface with laser jammers providing high end radar detection and laser jammer capabilities. The software allows backup and to true lock data to permanently locate and document known speed traps, cameras, and other places of interest.
